Story of a Sad Bullfighter
“La storia del cortometraggio è stata a lungo custodita nel cassetto, e dopo essere stata selezionata come migliore sceneggiatura illustrata al concorso Dolly Mattador 2024, ho deciso di animarla e completarla. Racconta il difficile rapporto con sé stessi, con le parti più oscure di sé, ed esplora anche il rapporto con la natura, che in qualche modo è parte di noi”. Maddalena Ghidoni si è laureata all’International School of Comics come illustratrice, dopo di che ha lavorato per diversi anni come designer di sfondi e personaggi per lo studio di animazione Delicatessen. Attualmente è illustratrice, colorista e graphic designer freelance, e insegna anche prospettiva e lettura dell’immagine.
“This short film is a story that has long been kept in the drawer, and after being selected as the best illustrated screenplay at the Dolly Mattador 2024 competition, I decided to animate and complete it. It tells the difficult relationship with oneself, with the darker parts of oneself, and also explores the relationship with nature, which is in some way a part of us”. Maddalena Ghidoni graduated from the International School of Comics as an illustrator, after which she worked for several years as a background and character designer for the animation studio Delicatessen. Currently she is a freelance illustrator colorist and graphic designer, and she also teaches perspective and image reading.
