The love that fell to earth
Una notte d’estate in Sicilia: stelle cadenti e luci inconsuete si vedono nel cielo. Solo Luisa e Caterina, due amiche che passeggiano per la città, sembrano accorgersene, almeno fino all’arrivo di un misterioso ragazzo, forse disceso dalle profondità del cosmo. L’incontro con l’Altro diventa così un inno al mistero dell’amore e alla struggente immaginazione della giovinezza. Gianfrancesco Iacono è nato a Palermo nel 1986. È autore indipendente di cortometraggi d’animazione e co-regista di un cortometraggio documentario, tutti lavori selezionati presso numerosi festival e rassegne cinematografiche in Italia e all’estero. Nel 2024 ha realizzato il cortometraggio d’animazione Thalassa, nell’ambito di Agrigento Capitale della Cultura 2025.
A summer night in Sicily: shooting stars and strange lights can be seen in the sky. Only Luisa and Caterina, two friends walking around the city, seem to notice it, at least until the arrival of a mysterious boy, perhaps descended from the depths of the cosmos. The encounter with the Other thus becomes a hymn to the mystery of love and the poignant imagination of youth. Gianfrancesco Iacono was born in Palermo in 1986. He is an independent author of animated short films and co-director of a documentary short film, all works selected at numerous film festivals and reviews in Italy and abroad. In 2024 he made the animated short film Thalassa, as part of Agrigento Capital of Culture 2025.
