STAYING IN THE SKY
Nicolò rimane appollaiato da solo per anni sui pendii rocciosi del suo frutteto, nella Valle di Pegli, in Liguria, convinto di poter cambiare il mondo attraverso l’oggetto dei suoi sogni: il dirigibile. Lo vediamo inseguire l’utopia di una società meno inquinata e più rispettosa dei paesaggi. E poi, un giorno Elisabetta, la sua compagna, si unìsce a lui in questo sogno, insieme ai loro figli. Lev Khvostenko è un regista francese di Marsiglia di origini russe legato da diversi anni all’Italia, dove ha realizzato il suo primo film, Staying in the sky. Attivista del cinema autonomo parigino La Clef, ha sviluppato una programmazione orientata al cinema performativo e si interessa, nel suo lavoro, a forme di narrazione condivisa tra i soggetti filmati e il regista.
Nicolò remains perched alone for years on the rocky slopes of his orchard in the Pegli Valley in Liguria, convinced that he can change the world through the object of his dreams: the airship. We see him pursuing the utopia of a less polluted society that is more respectful of the landscape. Then, one day, his partner Elisabetta joins him in this dream, along with their children. Lev Khvostenko is a French director from Marseilles with Russian origins. He has been cultivating strong ties with Italy, where he made his first film, Staying in the sky. An activist at Paris’ autonomous cinema La Clef, he developed a programme oriented around performative cinema and is interested, in his own work, in forms of shared narrative between the filmed subjects and the filmmaker.
