Amianto. Genova: storia di una lotta operaia
Il docufilm racconta la battaglia sindacale, durata 12 anni, che ha coinvolto la classe operaia genovese per vedersi restituire i propri diritti. Oltre 1400 lavoratori, alcuni malati o deceduti, colpiti dall’esposizione all’amianto sono stati indagati come truffatori. Tra il 1994 e il 2020 l’Inail ha registrato in Liguria oltre 3.600 decessi provocati dall’esposizione all’amianto, di cui oltre la metà a Genova. Grazie alla Cgil, Fiom e SPI le pensioni vennero ripristinate, ma di amianto si continua a morire. Il documentario vuole raccontare quella lotta e restituire dignità e giustizia ai malati, alle vittime, ai loro familiari, alla classe lavoratrice offesa da accuse infondate e infamanti. Ugo Roffi, film maker e Ludovica Schiaroli, giornalista, sono già autori del documentario Il Canto del Gallo sulla vita di Don Andrea Gallo; Giovanni Burlando’s Vision short-docu pluripremiato (Festival di Portland e Toronto) sulla vita del decano delle corse motociclistiche in salita nel 2015; nel 2018 hanno realizzato DigaVox - testimonianze dalla Diga di Begato sull’emergenza abitativa a Genova. Il filmato ha riaperto il dibattito sulle politiche abitative, a distanza di due anni dall’uscita del docufilm l’amministrazione è intervenuta per risanare il quartiere.
The documentary tells the story of the 12-year-long union battle involving the Genoese working class to have their rights restored. Over 1,400 workers, some sick or deceased, affected by exposure to asbestos were investigated as fraudsters. Between 1994 and 2020, Inail recorded over 3,600 deaths caused by exposure to asbestos in Liguria, over half of which in Genoa. Thanks to Cgil, Fiom and SPI (the trade unions), pensions were restored, but people continue to die of asbestos. The documentary aims to tell the story of that fight and restore dignity and justice to the sick, the victims, their families, and the working class offended by unfounded and defamatory accusations. Ugo Roffi, film maker and Ludovica Schiaroli, journalist, are already the authors of the documentary Il Canto del Gallo on the life of Don Andrea Gallo; Giovanni Burlando’s Vision award-winning short-docu (Portland and Toronto Festivals) on the life of the doyen of uphill motorcycle racing in 2015; in 2018 they created DigaVox - testimonies from the Begato Dam on the housing emergency in Genoa. The film has reopened the debate on housing policies, two years after the release of the docufilm the administration has intervened to rehabilitate the neighborhood.
