Afterword to pamphlet of 1942
Una città patrimonio mondiale dell’UNESCO, San Pietroburgo, sopravvissuta a un assedio nazista di 900 giorni nella seconda guerra mondiale, è oggi nuovamente minacciata: negli ultimi anni, i nuovi capitalisti russi hanno demolito oltre duecento edifici storici della città. Riprendendo l’omonimo articolo di Dmitrij LichaÊev, il film traccia un parallelo tra l’assedio di Leningrado e la difesa delle città russe medievali, come descritto nelle cronache. Ritornando al presente, paragona gli odierni distruttori della storia agli invasori stranieri. Stanislav Dorochenkov nei suoi primi film esplorava i confini tra forme sperimentali, documentarie e narrative, studiando diversi metodi di interpretazione di un testo. Nel 2012 ha fondato a Osaka il gruppo musicale d’avanguardia Après la Guerre. Ha lavorato al film Iliazd tra il 2014 e il 2021. Nel 2018, con Après la Guerre, ha creato la performance Omnia Vincit Amor al teatro Lavoir Moderne Parisien. La performance era basata su testi scritti da Iliazd e sui suoi stessi scritti. Ha esposto le sue fotografie in Germania, Francia e Giappone.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Saint Petersburg, which survived a 900-day Nazi siege in World War Two, is today under threat again: over the past several years, Russia’s new capitalists have demolished over two hundred historic buildings in the city. Retracing Dmitry Likhachev’s eponymous article, the &lm draws parallels between the Siege of Leningrad and the defense of medieval Russian cities, as described in the chronicles. Returning to the present, it compares today’s destroyers of history with foreign invaders. Stanislav Dorochenkov in his early films explored the borders between experimental, docu- mentary and narrative forms, studying different methods of interpreting a text. In 2012 he found in Osaka avant-garde music band Après la Guerre. He worked on film Iliazd between 2014 and 2021. In 2018 with Après la Guerre, he created the Omnia Vincit Amor performance at the Lavoir Moderne Parisien theatre. The performance was based on texts written by Iliazd as well as his own writings. He has exhibited his photography in Germany, France and Japan.
